Romans 1:16

Acts 13:38-39

Point #1 – The Good News is that Jesus died and your days of being condemned and bound by sin would be over.  Life and abundance to the fullest until it overflows would be your reality.

John 5:24
John 3:16-17
Romans 8:1

  1. Many Christians have chosen to put their trust in the ministry of condemnation rather than the ministry of righteousness.2 Corinthians 3:6-9

The covenant of the law kills, but the covenant of grace fives life.

1 Peter 1:18 – The covenant of grace was purchased for you by the blood of Jesus

1 Peter 1:19, 23

The veil over Moses’ face was because the glory was departing.  Not because it was so bright.

2 Corinthians 3:13-18

Point #2 – How is the covenant of grace more glorious than the covenant of the law?  The law demands righteousness from sinful man.  Grace imparts righteousness to a sinful man.  Romans 5:8, 2 Cor 5:21

Law = Performance Based            Grace = Jesus only

In grace we are called to only believe. Mark 5:36b

When the ten commandments were given at the foot of Mt. Sinai, three thousand people died.  Exodus 32:28

In the New Testament on the day of Pentecost, God poured out His Spirit and gave birth to the church of Jesus Christ and three thousand were saved.  Acts 2:41-42

The power for the church to overcome sin is actually found by being under the grace of God and not reinforcing the law.  1 Cor 15:56, Romans 6:14

Point #3 – For if the first covenant had been flawless, then there would be no need for the second.  Hebrews 8:6-7

Hence, the new covenant made the old covenant obsolete.  Hebrews 8:13

To keep the law was impossible, for if you broke one, you broke them all.  James 2:10

God gave the law to bring man to the end of himself so he would see his need for a Savior.  Hence, the law was given to magnify your sins.

Romans 5:20

Romans 3:20

Galatians 3:24

The tree of the knowledge of good and evil was a picture of the law.    Genesis 3:22-24

God is after a relationship with us.  One that is dependent on His goodness and His goodness alone.  The tree of life.
